FINALLY!! Back sometime between 1964 and 1968 I discovered a book in the Bay City Central High School library called "Pitch Dark and No Moon" by H. L. Lawson. While reading it, I became instantly hooked on Charity Island, which is located in Michigan's Saginaw Bay. In the past few years I've observed it from a distance, flown over it to do aerial photos, reconstructed it for my Flight Simulation scenery, and reread the book several times (after a long search, my daughter and her family found it and gave it to me for Christmas). And on July 15th, 2007, after almost 40 years of wishing and dreaming (on my part, anyway), my wife and I were able to actually set foot on Charity Island. Below are thumbnails of some of the
photographs I made on my visit. Click on a thumbnail to see the full sized
photo and a brief description.
