This part of my DDG-2 site is not really dead (even if it appears that way) - it's just easier for me, given my workload, to refer you to the JHNSA news page.
THE “NEW CHARLIE DEUCE”
While there certainly is nothing new about the 48 year old ex-USS CHARLES F. ADAMS (DDG-2), these two photos of the recent paint maintenance provided for the sides of the guided missile destroyer have greatly improved her appearance. She is still moored outboard of ex-USS FORREST SHERMAN (DD-931) and ex-USS EDSON (DD-945) at the Philadelphia Inactive Ships Facility.

ADAMS CREW REUNION
The last DDG-2 reunion was in May 2004 in Goose Creek, SC. Bill O'Neill and
Leroy Houghton used to do the reunion planning and notifications and plan
reunions with the USS Tattnall DDG-19 as combined reunions to make it work.
Leroy passed away two weeks after the 2004 reunion and I have not heard from
Bill in a long time.
We need someone to plan and put together a reunion for either late 2010 or
spring to fall of 2011. I am tied up with the ACVA work and do not have time
nor personal resources to put a reunion together myself. Since 2005 I have
tried to interest a small group of maybe 10-15 ADAMS Crew Mates with several
on line discussions to start an "Official Adams Association or Reunion Group."
However, I have not had much success and cold only get 2 or 3 interested crew
mates together on line at any one time to begin discussion and those felt we
needed more participants to get this started.
If your interested and can find time to work on an ADAMS Crew Reunion project
or have deep pockets to support a reunion effort, please contact me. I don't think
where we would hold a reunion is as important as holding one somewhere soon
and start an ADAMS Association. It need not be an elaborate or costly affair but
one to kick start the Adams Crew into action. I will commit to work closely with
all interested crew mates.
