NEWS
07/17/10 - The latest ACVA newsletter is available via this link.
In addition, Dave Myerly has put out some information on a potential DDG-2 reunion - his message is on my News page, lower left (DDG-2 Reunion News).
Once in a while I hear from detractors who question why we are bothering to try to save "an old rust bucket", and I'm sure you have, too. On May 18, 2010, a group of our people were at the Philly shipyard, collecting items from "to be scrapped" ships, which we will need to restore the Adams. The following link is for a pdf file that was put together by that team, and if this doesn't convince the skeptics, I don't know what will. She may be a bit sad looking on the outside, but just take a look at the inside!
Inside the Adams
Hi Everyone,
This is just a short update on things that have been happening with the project lately.
#1 - As mentioned earlier, the JHNSA website (http://www.adamsclassmuseum.org/) is up and running. This is quickly becoming the place to check for the latest on the ACVA/JHNSA's efforts to save the Adams and establish a museum to honor all Adams Class ships and their crews. Not to take anything away from the ACVA, but I'd suggest you make the JHNSA site your first stop when checking to see how the project is progressing - I just finished adding a number of "news" events which are taking place in Jacksonville.
#2 - The ACVA and the JHNSA now have a presence on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Adams-Class-Naval-Ship-Museum/107140799307576?ref=mf I think (but I'm not positive) that you can visit that site even if you are not a member of Facebook.
#3 - We have also added a new page to the ACVA site, in conjunction with our Facebook presence - http://www.adamsclassddgvets.org/FACEFRIEND.htm Be sure to check that out.
Thanks for "listening".
Jim
